Request a foundation evaluation
Call if something changed quickly, like a crack that opened this week or a door that suddenly won't close. Otherwise, send a request and a local foundation contractor will call you back.
Before you call
It helps to have:
- Your address and town, so the request reaches a contractor that serves it
- Whether the house is on a slab or has a crawl space, if you know
- What you're noticing: cracks, sticking doors, sloping floors, gaps at trim
- When it started and whether it seems to be getting worse
- Any past foundation repairs, pier logs, warranties or inspection reports
Start a crack log. Note which doors stick, where cracks are and when you first saw them, and photograph each crack with a tape measure beside it. It shows a contractor how the house is moving.
